our wintery wonderland on Christmas Day some images from 116th street, Columbia campus again. of course all the snow has been washed away, and we have had some temperatures of minus 18 degrees celsius...quite cold enough for NYC, I think! We headed down to the local Catholic church on Christmas Day to their midday mass because it was in English (so many have Spanish services), and because it was the only local service we could find for Christmas Day, as a lot of churchs have their services on Christmas Eve...a bit hard to take baby out past his bedtime!

The skies for Inwood, here in New York, have been a bit misty and cloudy and rainy and ..well, sometimes a little depressing for some people....for those who are waiting for some fine spring weather, I think! although there have been brief moments of blue skies and fine sunny weather.... Sunday at the episcopalian church... Monday at the Dyckman farmhouse... Tuesday at the library down the road... Wednesday and Thursday down at the park.... I ducked out early this morning to take some photos with the early morning light... I hope whoever lives here didn't mind my pointing my camera at their window! The sky turned out to be pretty terrific today. I know you won't believe this , but yesterday, it snowed, very briefly while I was out walking the baby grandson! I was so excited, because I had hoped for some snow but didn't like to tell anyone, since everyone is so looking forward to the warmer weather. I had wondered when I looked at the clouds, and felt how cold it was, whether there might have been some snow around...I couldn't believe it when all this white fluffy snow started flying around. Not much, but good enough! And it didn't last long either! and then of course, we had wet skies for several days this week. I love the wet weather! These photos, as most of you probably know by now, were taken in Inwood Park. For those of you who don't know, Inwood is at the northern most tip of Manhattan Isla...

Skywatch Friday

We had a few gray skies in New York this week. These photos were taken on Riverside Drive and approximately W90th street. Apart from some rainy times this week, there have also been some great New York blue skies! Above, Chapel, Columbia Presbyterian Medical School, Washington Heights. blossoms in Inwood Park, New York. and some daffodil skies from Inwood Park again. The Cloisters were arising from the fog at the end of the street. Almost a European scene this morning here in Inwood, NY. And a flock of birds startled me as I was walking the baby this morning! I just love this photo as the sun was shining through the leaves of the tree. I hope you have enjoyed your stroll with me through some of the streets and parks of New York.
