Flowers, walks and earthquakes in the night...

view of a lassiandra on a fairly early morning walk... these days my back doesn't allow me to leap out of bed early and go walking, very sad! But I am always keen to get outside for a walk as soon as it has warmed up sufficiently...my back that is. The weather is always warm here usually, apart from about a week or so in the winter...!! It is  especially great to be walking when one has some highly spirited grandchildren in tow. Whether they are tiny ones, or older ones home sick from school, the outing seems to be good for all of us. by late afternoon  I am always pleased to get out and walk again when the sun has died down a bit, and the day is getting a little cooler... there are always some interesting flowers to see along the way...I thought these striking yellow flowers above were a kind of orchid, but I am wondering if they may be a variety of a ginger plant. Ginger plants are very common in this area. I love this area, so full of things to lo...

starting school

Talking about starting school, I need to go to computer, camera and mobile phone classes!! after a long lazy almost eleven weeks of minding grand children, the kids have finally almost started back at their brand new school... watching the tennis at the Australian Open helps to pass the long hot languid summer days. If one can wrest the technology from the children of course! Murray and Djokovic battled it out for the final. Sorry about the quality of the photo from the TV  broadcast. A great match. Better luck next time Murray. And for some strange reason, both my dear little laptops gave up on me within a couple of days of each other!! Very sad! ;-( But of course every down side usually has an upside, and a new larger laptop is the result...wow! Lucky me. Lots of learning going on very slowly here. Including discovering that my little spare TV has a DVD player built in. Very handy when the video player also goes on the blink! I am being dragged into the world of ...
