a couple of wonderful ixoras were flowering... the other day when I was at Toowong. Hope you like them. I thought they were quite spectacular.

Welcome to My World. I live in Brisbane, in South East Queensland, Australia. Actually Brisbane is the State capital. Today I thought I would take you for a stroll through a nearby suburb called Toowong. Just to show you that Australia is not all kangaroos and gum trees! First of all, I have to tell you a little story from noted author Bill Bryson. He said when he was signing books in Brisbane, he was at Toowong. And he hoped that two wongs didn't make a right! And he said, no-one laughed. Sorry Bill. We do have a sense of humour..somewhere. Toowong is a busy hub through which a lot of the University of Queensland students travel. Hence there is a fairly strong cafe culture, shops, hotel, and businesses. Plus the usual ubiquitous Macdonalds along the way! There are motels, if you need to stay over night, a good train service through from the City to Ipswich. As well as bus services! There are churches, old queenslanders, and many blocks of units for students, as well as others....

I had to go to the dentist at Toowong today, so I thought I would take some photos. They have come in handy for skywatch today! This building is always attractive ..and always reflects the sky. Nearby the Royal Exchange Building is now the local hotel..close enough for the businesses and university too! It rained a little here today and yesterday.... and of course then there were the usual beautiful sunsets! The sun was just a brilliant red as it set. I happened to look out the back window just as it was slipping over the horizon...doesn't it disappear fast? As I said before, it is soo difficult to photograph the sunsets from here through the gum trees. There just isn't a spare space to get a good look at it through the trees. I usually have to zoom in on a particular piece of the sky that I can find. And to actually get this thin slice of bright cloud was tres difficult! The mountains were glorious as usual. I can never resist the temptation to take yet another photo ...
