A tree by the river...

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. Psalm 52:8 They will be like a tree planted by the water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves will stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:8

Out and About in Washington Heights

Image
Audubon Terrace Washington Heights. Is an interesting place to visit. At about Broadway and West 156th New York. I love the old buildings. Wish I knew a bit more of the history of the place. Must go look it all up again. Decided to have another look around while I was down there today...for old time's sake! This one is my Favourite: HOLD HIGH THE FLAMING TORCH FROM AGE TO AGE. They have the names of all sorts of important people around the tops of the buildings! A great list of all the Spanish Explorers. And of course this afternoon, our walk in the park! Love the rock formations. This is the first afternoon that Liam actually had his eyes open in the park..previously he has always been fast asleep! Can you see the bird nesting box between these trees? A little time together for Dad and Liam, after a long walk to tire him out!

Sunday at SPSA

Image
Last Sunday we visited the Cloisters down the road. An adjunct of the Met. Unfortunately my camera batteries died and this was one of the last photos I got there then. Then a baby came along and stole the limelight.. Today I decided to jump on the train and go to church. So I caught the number 1 train downtown to Jo and Andrew's church at 86th Street. This is the view you get of SPSA as you come up out of the subway. It is an interesting church, as there are several church communities worship there, including a Jewish congregation. There is Feed the Hungry Campaign that operates there, giving food to the homeless, as well as a women's shelter that gives a bed to homeless women overnight. What I really love is this banner .. HOW GOOD IT IS WHEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS DWELL TOGETHER IN HARMONY. After coffee hour, some good friends of Jo and Andrew's came along on the trip home to visit. Naomi enjoyed a cuddle of Liam. Lovely for Jo and Andrew to have them visit, o...

Friday in NY..for some new readers...

Hello I am Liam..welcome to my grandparents in NZ...! Hope you enjoy reading Grandma's blog here. I am sure you will enjoy all the pictures she takes of me! Here is my lovely Mummy..she looks like she is hiding from the world already, but she is just trying to figure out how the Baby Bjorn carrier works, that Grandma brought all the way from Australia for us. OK Wake up Liam..it is time to go for a walk! Here we are outside the apartment...Mummy and Me. We are off to see Daddy playing tennis with his friend Ronald from Australia. Here is the lovely park over the road. Mum and Dad love this park so much. So do lots of other people. In fact Daddy very kindly went for a walk around the park with Grandma last night when she had a sore back from lack of exercise. She was surprised just how many people were out at that time, but I guess it is "summer time, so the livin' is easy"! Also it is cooler out there, and close on to school summer break. Hey, look..there's Dad,...
