an hibiscus flower in the front yard... one of the orchids...see more below... a strangely exotic flower on a tree at the Botanic Gardens and a display of native plants at the Botanic Gardens... I think the above are some sort of eucalyptus flowers... a delicate melaleuca an native orchid above from Stradbroke Island and irises at the gardens... a tropical palm at church today.... another sort of orchid above... purple bougainvillea..... my calistemon.... the jacarandas....are starting to bloom... and a petria in bloom.... a pretty bauhinia I noticed the other day.... poinsettia above... more calistemons.... and the orchids again... I hadn't taken many flower photos during the week, apart from the weeds in the previous post. These I found today....and I am sorry I don't know what this red flower is called. But whatever it is called, they were very fine specimens. So pretty. a lovely lassiandra on my way home from church this morning and a beautiful flowering peach was flowering beautifully away down in the back yard at church, on my way down to the car...this will be my second spring this year! I was in New York City for my first northern hemisphere spring time, in March April May. And now it is only August, and there are signs of spring here in SE Queensland. I can enjoy it all over again. These grevillea flowers...or is this the calistemon, I think, were flowering right at the top of my tree! I need a better close up lens!! This bougainvillea has been flowering away for quite some time down the road from here. Finally I remembered to take my camera and take a photo! Well, the week has been a wonderful one, what with wonderful flowers, not to mention some spectacular sunsets (see skywatch friday below)..and a visit to Toowoomba the Garden City up on the Great Dividing Range, South East Queensland. This rose was quite beautiful and delicate. At least I think it was a rose! I really should have spent more time driving around looking at all the beautiful gardens, that are flowering there , despite the very bad situation with their water supply! Someone said recently that their dams are down to 7% capacity. I can hardly believe that could be true. Well, sort of, beacuase I know they have been in a bad way for a long time! Here's praying for a regular old wet season to fill those dams this Christmas..or before! I just love purple irises, don't you? They remind me of my Mum who used to grow them beau...
