Taize, Glasshouse mountains, train journeys and pineapples

This photo I must have taken on my previous trip home from the coast...oh, how I'd love to get to a Taize service one day.... it is looking a lot like autumn these days and the evening temperatures are dropping...16 (that's celsius of course) tonight...lovely... and I took a little train journey to Landsborough the other day to go retrieve a few things I left at the coast accidentally..including the little car at a friend's place...it was kind of taking up precious space outside my daughter's place...the little streets are so narrow there... the train snakes along quite close to the Glasshouse Mountains... quite a lovely and interesting little trip... can you see Mt Tibrogargan hiding behind the trees there? please excuse reflections in the terrible train windows, this little place must have been at Beerwah I think oops, these two are out of order here ... here I am on the bus to Caloundra... another interesting journey, since I missed the direct connection... took a ph...

ABC WEDNESDAY the letter P

The letter P this week is for PRICKLY PEAR These fine specimens were in my sons back garden in Melbourne, but they do occur in Queensland. They got to be such a pest in Queensland taking over the valuable farming land, that a bug had to be introduced to eradicate them...there is a memorial hall to the bug out on the Darling Downs, I think at a little place call ed Boonarga. The PINEAPPLE is a POPULAR fruit here too! My PETRIA is flowering away PRETTILY as is my flowering POMEGRANATE The PLOVERS have been warding off people walking too close to their nest. I always wonder why they make their nests on the ground, but they do seem quite efficient at warning people so I guess they can get away with it, eh? This morning was the first morning that they wern't there on my morning walk, so maybe the babies are old enough to defend themselves now. Here's hoping!
