The wattles have been just lovely ...blooming away, since I arrived home...this one I found out at the university when I popped in there...I like to go out there for a look around when the students are on holidays...and it is a little quieter! About my one and only flower in my garden at the moment..a hibiscus..on Thursday.. well, apart from a few little flowers on the Indian Hawthorne hedge... hibiscus on Sunday... a yellow grevillea I think. Funny the flowers have the same shape as the Silky Oak flowers, but the tree doesn't have the same shape at all! this pink (usually quite tall) tree is flowering everywhere at the moment also..it is quite spectacular...and I can never remember the name..is it an eremophila? No, maybe it is an euphonium? I will have to go look it up and get back to you... and this is...an African tulip? I think. Funny I don't really like orange flowers, well apart from some roses and strelitzia, but these ones were looking quite spectacular the othe...

I tried to take a photo before sunrise today...not very good I am afraid...but I did like the color! And a quick trip over to Mt Ommaney...I stopped on the way home to take these photos...of a fairly sizable land slippage beside the Centenary Highway bridge..someone has lost the bottom half of their yard into the river there! It looks a little like their jetty may be ok? The other day I had occasion to go past the Archerfield aerodrome... so I stopped there also to take photos...of the old aircraft hangars...I wonder were these old buildings there when Dad (Poppa) worked there during the war? I am afraid this bus "Brisbane Aero Engineering" doesn't inspire much confidence in me..! Perhaps it has been superseded by this place... I also stopped on the banks of the river at seventeen mile rocks... where Mum and I had a couple of lunchtime picnics.... wonder if this is the seventeen mile rock.... one of the remaining old properties on the Sinnamon estate there.... Go...

Despite all the rain we have had since I arrived home, there have also been some spectacular skies as well. This sunset was just amazing, with the hills so blue in the distance. After the rain disappeared, the fog rolled in...also very spectacular...it was very hard to photograph, I decided....the last photograph will show you the line of thick fog that lay across the view in the distance... I was quite taken by this upside down reflection of the trees and sky in my (still green) pool... sunrise one morning was quite as stunning.... and here we have the roll of fog for you....quite obliterating the mountains from view! This was the sunrise one morning...out to the west...all very strange! I hope you have enjoyed some skies from my place. On my last evening in New York, we strolled down to the park after dinner, and were lucky to discover a performance of The Merchant of Venice outdoors on the peninsular. What a spot, with the Palisades of New Jersey in the background under the bridge! I had been wishing we had had time to see it, but things had been a little busy.... there are always actors waiting in the wings...and we were right among them! what a wonderful idea for the lazy summer nights! Time to take baby home...having seen his first Shakespearian performance! And for Grandma to start packing!
