Good to wake early enough to see the sunrise sometimes I remembered to take my camera on my morning walk I just love the bauhinias.. . and this lorikeet was close enough to get a fair photo another bougainvillea whew, I made it back up the laneway, getting a little fitter and faster at last

Please try clicking here for the correct link: Central Park Sky After what seemed like forty days of rain.... some blue skies appeared and so did the birds... enjoying their fast food ... of course there had been plenty of water to drink.... can you see the scrub turkey above? was he just resting in the trees, or looking for some fast food, or avoiding being fast food for a snake perhaps? Do snakes like and eat turkeys I wonder? I can't imagine them wrapping their jaws around this guy. the gum leaves and blossoms are being stripped off any flowering trees and the lorikeets are having a field day with the fast food.... I woke early this morning, so took the opportunity to go out for an early morning walk...and took my camera for a change. I was so delighted that these lorikeets were perched in this gorgeous tree in the early morning light! a quiet moment in the garden... bougainvillea... hippeastrums.... the jacarandas are out already..that is always a surprise... hibiscus.... I just love the colorful lorikeets.... delicate gerberas.... and the last of the orchids...are just hanging on for a little bit longer.

A wonderfully painted traffic signal box just up the road....the painter dedicated it to her father.... the not so beautiful, depending on who you are and what your likes and dislikes are....this ugly looking fungus , or fungii, were growing in or under the long grass (it had been recently roughly cut) down the back of our church. It could give you a bit of a fright if you didn't know what it was! Luckily I have seen it once before, at my place...it is called a Starfish Fungus (aseroe rubra) according to A field guide to Australian FUNGI , by Bruce Fuhrer. This particular one was at least six inches across. Quite a large one too, as my book says they grow up to 130 mm...and I am sure this one was larger than that! Will have to go back and check just for the record. the river down at the end of the street. This bougainvillea was flowering cheerfully on my morning walk this morning! And I found these delightful flora and fauna at Maroochydore up on the Sunshine Coast yesterday...what I call a red river gum...and a lorikeet I think this is a sort of a hibiscus (above) These yellow trees are flowering everywhere at the moment. The plumbago looked good, but I can never photgraph the true blue color that they are! These are guava flowers on a tree down the road! The frangipani that I thought looked pretty good this morning when I took it's photo, is not quite as nice as I thought....looks like those leaves are getting ready to fall off! I think the purple flower might be a duranta. And I call this an Indian Hawthorne, though I think some poeple might have another name! It makes a great hedge, but has to be trimmed every so often! And the bauhinia was looking quite pretty down there against the white frangipani in the background this morning when I got home, in the early morning light! To ...
