Welcome to Queensland
To Brisbane, the State Capital, where the Brisbane River meanders through the city, and gracious old Queenslanders (that's the houses) adorn the banks of the river and many of the streets where the weather they say is beautiful one day and perfect the next....mostly. Where there are purple houses...and the weather now is 30 degrees celsius and the humidity about 100% Queensland, where we have just had the worst drought in living memory, where floods happen at a moment's notice (last week)...and where the traffic banks up for miles on different roads in different directions, because of a malfunctioning traffic light (this morning, where I live). Please note, not all the houses are purple, nor are they all old Queenslanders. Some, or should I say many are quite ordinary little brick boxes. Of course there are many expensive mansions too. Welcome to the sub-tropics. Where mangoes fall off the trees, papaws and pineapples delight, and the best beaches only an hour away.
