the early mornings down on the beach are getting later...if that makes sense... since all the days are starting to run in together, then the photos may take poetic license too... more train tracks... then a train to sit in on the track... plus a little girl to play with was fun wasn't it? I didn't feel I should take her photo, though I could have asked her father. He seemed to think I we were ok people to leave his little poppet to play with on the beach while he had a little swim. Glad I could help out. They were very lovely people. Good for little people to have someone to play with.... the passing parade on the front...people lying around reading in the sun...or the shade.... the container ships continue to ply by, down the passage to the port of Brisbane. walkers strollers... surfies....it is after all the famous schoolies week, where thousands of school leavers who have finished their twelve years of study, flock to the beaches when the exams have finished.. most of them ...

On my trip to the suburb of West End in Brisbane, I decided to drive along the river. The Brisbane River. Found an old building that looked a bit like it might be next for removal. Not sure. Will be sad if a bit more of our history disappears. All in the name of progress I suppose. There was a cute little cafe in the front of the warehouse shop I was in. And on the way home, I was stopped at a traffic light, and realised I was looking at the famous St Marys church. It has been in the news lately , as the priest there has been told to move on. Apparently he is not running his church according to the rules and regulations of the Catholic Church. A bit of a shame, as it appears from the news that he has a very large congregation! Looks like a local theatre there. You can see I don't know much about West End really. But I did love the top of this building! Another little bit of our history is still standing. The letter P this week is for PRICKLY PEAR These fine specimens were in my sons back garden in Melbourne, but they do occur in Queensland. They got to be such a pest in Queensland taking over the valuable farming land, that a bug had to be introduced to eradicate them...there is a memorial hall to the bug out on the Darling Downs, I think at a little place call ed Boonarga. The PINEAPPLE is a POPULAR fruit here too! My PETRIA is flowering away PRETTILY as is my flowering POMEGRANATE The PLOVERS have been warding off people walking too close to their nest. I always wonder why they make their nests on the ground, but they do seem quite efficient at warning people so I guess they can get away with it, eh? This morning was the first morning that they wern't there on my morning walk, so maybe the babies are old enough to defend themselves now. Here's hoping! It is Thursday already. Where does the time go? Time to update here. It has been good to catch up on a few things around the place, especially while the weather is so reasonable. I am trying to attack the mountains of paperwork that build up around this house. Oh and I have even had a chance to listen to a bit of the Margaret Throsby interviews and music from 10am to 11am on classic FM (106.1 in Brisbane). Well, I think she might be on from 9am till 11am, cos it isnt 10 yet! At the moment she has a most gorgeous piece of music playing..a requiem. I am trying to remember which one it is...is it Faure or Brahms..I am definitely leaning towards the former at this stage. Very recognisable. And singable along to..so that must be Faure if I can do that! [The kids sang it at school and loved it too...I wonder do they get time to listen to it anymore]? We had another great electrical storm on Tuesday night. Not quite as bad as last week. They don't seem to be producing all that much rain h...
