Gabbinbar Homestead, Toowoomba, Darling Downs, Queensland.

Gabbinbar is an historic stately old homestead in Toowoomba on the rich agricultural Darling Downs. Toowoomba being on a plateau on the Great Dividing Range, is a cool summer escape from the heat elsewhere. Gabbinbar was built back in the 1870s according to my google research by a builder Richard Godsall, for a Presbyterian minister. It has been used by Governers of Queensland, and others, but nowadays, it is privately owned and occasionally used for functions. My niece was a lucky young woman as her parents had known the owner, and as he attended the wedding, it was allowed to be held at night...other wedding and other functions are only allowed during the day, due to restriction by the City Council, and objections and complaints from local residents! Please forgive duplicate photos.... the wedding party is photographed on the steps at the entrance.... grand entrance way, used to be a carriage way for horses.... lovely verandah makes the place cool in the summer...the homestead is slo...
