May Flowers .... The Brenda Photo Challenge

On one of the last days of April, the beautiful tree down at the Inwood Hill park peninsular was showing its fast fading colors. I thought it fitting somehow that an elderly couple had chosen to sit under it for my last photo of it. and of course the elusive but absolutely beautiful lilac has been a popular favorite in May and a humble geranium holds third spot...in honor of my daughter and her family who have housed me here in NYC for over a month while they settle down after the birth of their new (second) baby...it is one of her favorite flowers. And now I have a confession to make as we admire this purple beauty...I am going to have to cut the adjectives, because I have included 17 more of my favorite photos from May, especially these ones from our trip to the New York Botanical Gardens last weekend. please feel free to skip them if you don't have the time to peruse but I think you may enjoy them, especially these cat tails and this striking one as well ad now we have some from...

Today's Flowers..Images from a Weekend Wedding

some images form around the church in Toowoomba...the Spring flowers have decided to arrive a little early, what a treat for us all and the bride...I do hope there are some left in a month's time for the Carnival of Flowers they have here! a lovely magnolia tree in the yard beside the church.... lovely arrangment in the church.... flowers being prepared for the tables at the wedding breakfast.... some images from the garden.... and inside.....an african violet.... and some lovely nasturtiums that were cheery at our front door.... the dracaena in my garden is flowering....I don't think I have ever seen it flower before...maybe it has been the long drought that prompted it.... and a final shot from the conservatory flowers at the wedding breakfast... Some flowers from my week in NYC this week. First from Central Park and from Wave Hill, a glorious garden we visited at Riverdale in the Bronx during the week! Please forgive me if I don't have the names for some of them. I know some, but not all, coming from the tropics and the southern hemisphere! Central Park again...this lake setting was very pretty...and a wedding party was being photographed here! Some more photos from our trip to Wave Hill Garden. Beautiful orchids. a yellow magnolia....I don't think I have ever seen one before.... This purple bush below was very stunning! I wonder what it is called? and of course the lovely window boxes on our walk over to Central Park. I love these blue hydrangeas. A couple of photos here from our walk around NYU and Washington Square. a couple more from Central Park....or thereabouts... the one above we photographed at The Cloisters late yesterday afternoon...a wonderful place, and the Promenade Walk just lovely, with all the Spring f...
