admiring the zygocactus and reflecting on the view some leaves I found before communion and a wonderful wattle outside after church. I must be trying to get used to the fact that blogger says to me they are going to make me use the new interface soon...so of course I actually loaded these in the wrong order. Though of course on a restful Sunday while one is trying to get rid of the virus and sinus infection, it doesn't much matter which way we view them..I just love that wattle...everything seems to be happening earlier...it isn't winter officially yet, and yet we have had overnight minimum temps under 10 degrees celsius all week already! Any wonder the wattle thinks it is time to flower! I don't mind. A sight for sore eyes, especially when I have to sit up the back, skip the actual communion and the chat with coffee after, and go home, trying not to pass on the virus! The wattles are blooming. They were all along the sides of the roads as I drove to and from Toowoomba up the Great Dividing Range on the weekend. Hopefully this close-up will show you the fluffy nature of the individual flowers. My daughter-in law's colorful vege garden, was as lovely as any flower garden this weekend. a purple daisy...why do I have so much trouble getting the true nature of blue or purple flowers when I photograph them? a wonderful grevillea...I think...my contribution to my Australian natives for this week! My sister gets a bit dismayed at the non-native aspect of my Todays Flowers posts I think, from her comment last week! I am trying to encourage her to show her wonderful collection of native plants on her blog each week. It is a bit difficult I think when you are a busy woman and hold positions in the local (and beyond) native plant societies!! However we are working on a solution. The wattles have been just lovely ...blooming away, since I arrived home...this one I found out at the university when I popped in there...I like to go out there for a look around when the students are on holidays...and it is a little quieter! About my one and only flower in my garden at the moment..a hibiscus..on Thursday.. well, apart from a few little flowers on the Indian Hawthorne hedge... hibiscus on Sunday... a yellow grevillea I think. Funny the flowers have the same shape as the Silky Oak flowers, but the tree doesn't have the same shape at all! this pink (usually quite tall) tree is flowering everywhere at the moment also..it is quite spectacular...and I can never remember the name..is it an eremophila? No, maybe it is an euphonium? I will have to go look it up and get back to you... and this is...an African tulip? I think. Funny I don't really like orange flowers, well apart from some roses and strelitzia, but these ones were looking quite spectacular the othe...

Hi there..here are a selection of flowers for you , from New York City (later) to the flowers I have come across here at home since my touchdown yesterday morning. I am sorry if things are not of a high quality. Operating under difficulties here...jet lag, plus an old desktop computer, since I left the power cord to the laptop in NYC...ha...aren't I clever? I wonder how long it will take in the post. Fortunately I had just enough battery left to transfer most of my photos to my little external hard drive! Whew! First of all a view of the fall leaves, above...it is actually officially winter here, and that is about all the fall colors you will get to see...an occasional Japanese maple or two... the wattle was looking very pretty when I went to church this morning.... some new gum leaves I couldn't resist photographing.... bougainvillea.... and the pretty poinsettias next door...it is winter here now, so they are flowering now, which means they are nowhere to be seen at Chris...

A lovely bougainvillea... I am so sorry to bring you so many flowers today. I jus't couldnt choose between them! a very striking weedy vine that I call morning glory.... I don't know what this is...maybe a form of wattle? and I don't know the name of this one either! Snapped it on my way home from church yesterday, walking down to the creek where I parked my car! waterlily at the botanical gardens here... and another lovely Iris photo for you...I think my favorite color flowers are always blue!
