some quilts... the sunday afternoon jazz edition

I went back out to the quilt show on Sunday afternoon... They had had a quilting challenge...the first people in six groups of five were given a photo (of hot air balloons) to reproduce on their small hanging, and the next person in the group had to do their wall hanging as an interpretation of what the first person had done. And so on down the line in each group. Only the first person in each group got to see the original photo. All the others saw only the quilt that was made by the person just before them! A bit like a game of "whispers"! Very interesting. Above (top) we have a sample of the first in the group ...and above the last one in a group! there were other much larger quilts that had been made to specific instructions also...all had the same instructions as to what sort of blocks they made, but of course choosing their own materials and decorations. My sister wants to call this one above "quilt with legs"... I call it "very striking" (and of cour...
