Mum's dancing lady orchids are flowering again beautifully again. It is so lovely to see them again. It reminds me of how much she was a much better gardener than I am. the petria next door is looking pretty good.... today's story involves the borrowing of a ladder the painting of a balustrade and an awful sickening crash into a pane of glass... fortunately no awful injuries, only bruises luckily I had to be there for them when the man came to replace the glass... Thank God for his providence and mercy.

an hibiscus flower in the front yard... one of the orchids...see more below... a strangely exotic flower on a tree at the Botanic Gardens and a display of native plants at the Botanic Gardens... I think the above are some sort of eucalyptus flowers... a delicate melaleuca an native orchid above from Stradbroke Island and irises at the gardens... a tropical palm at church today.... another sort of orchid above... purple bougainvillea..... my calistemon.... the jacarandas....are starting to bloom... and a petria in bloom.... a pretty bauhinia I noticed the other day.... poinsettia above... more calistemons.... and the orchids again... I can't remember whether I have shown you this frangipani tree...a white one..with a purple branch in there! Can you see it? And of course I couldn't resist taking this photo of peeling bark at the bus stop while I was waiting for a bus! There was a little jacaranda flower captured in there! They often drop on me while I am out on my morning walk! And peeling bark is all around my yard now with all the gum trees shedding bark at this time of year! This is one of the culprits, Now I am sure the herbarium over at the Botanic Gardens told me one year that this was of the eucalyptus species..but I could be wrong. Anyway, it is flowering away at the moment. As a lot of the gum tress are...and the local lorikeets are twittering away out there very happy..drunk no doubt! And the mess they make of the trees...rubbish strewn all over the ground underneath. Whole little branches chewed off! They must get super energised while drunk, eh? The letter P this week is for PRICKLY PEAR These fine specimens were in my sons back garden in Melbourne, but they do occur in Queensland. They got to be such a pest in Queensland taking over the valuable farming land, that a bug had to be introduced to eradicate them...there is a memorial hall to the bug out on the Darling Downs, I think at a little place call ed Boonarga. The PINEAPPLE is a POPULAR fruit here too! My PETRIA is flowering away PRETTILY as is my flowering POMEGRANATE The PLOVERS have been warding off people walking too close to their nest. I always wonder why they make their nests on the ground, but they do seem quite efficient at warning people so I guess they can get away with it, eh? This morning was the first morning that they wern't there on my morning walk, so maybe the babies are old enough to defend themselves now. Here's hoping!
