the sun shineth
I ducked down to the local park and soccer fields. here they are. can you see the basketball hoop? the road between the park and the soccer field in the middle of the photo is under water. My road ends down at the Brisbane River, so this water backs up from the river, as you can see , the park and the soccer field are completely under water, and water lapping at the yards of houses beside the park...I spoke to a lady in that corner house, and she says those houses had water up to the steps (floorboards?) in the 1974 floods, so she is hoping she will be ok, but the water is still rising there today, the peak is expected here tomorrow. I woke this morning to see the sun shining . The good news is that the rain is easing. And that authorities will be able to send specialist rescue crews out into the devastated areas in the Lockyer Valley. The bad news is that the easing back of the rain makes no difference to the huge floods expected in Brisbane and Ipswich today and tomorrow. Searches...
