I went for a drive down to the bottom of my street, hoping to find a nice wattle flowering that I could take a photo...but I didn't find one, instead I found this...all up and down the river, people are having their jetties replaced, after having them all swept away in the floods at the beginning of last year... and there was also this...an abandoned house... was going to be large and extravagant in its day now just crumbling away, and even the house out the back too... what a shame....not often to be seen so close to other nice places in nice suburbs... very strange indeed....

going to uni is sometimes daunting but this one seemed to know where she's going we really enjoyed that art exhibition didn't we? and those big tall red canes really move in the wind don't they? not a bad outing for a rainy day activity, when it is too wet to go to the park.

some of my favorite old photos the two above of my kindergarten class....I love the age of the teachers! my mother and baby sister and my parents wedding. It was great to get to the beach last week on a lovely sunny day, on return from my lazy time in the tropical north it is such fun to share the beach with a small child isn't it? and the seagulls of course...there weren't many others there though someone was practicing the skill of surfboard riding I think which is much more fun when there's water involved the waves out further were pretty rough and swimmers were advised not to swim "out the back"...to stay in the knee to waist deep water... of course there was much running around as well...who can resist but the waves and the water are just the thing at the beach aren't they? we are so fortunate to have lovely warm winter days, despite the pretty cold nights.

the latter flower was the most beauutifully perfumed one I have ever encountered...ymmm.

these photos were taken on our drive along the waterfront in Cairns, North Queensland the other day bulk sugar terminal love the old buildings...more to come... and of course we all know that Captain Cook stopped in his vessel the Endeavour to do repairs up there. I don't think this was it though. And I probably shouldn't post the photo of the Navy entrance there. The guard was watching as I took it, and it felt a little as if I were doing the wrong thing!

the tide was out a little on the esplanade the other day when I was there taking this photo...there is a ship encapsulated in this statue...out on the horizon...the one that nearly slammed into the barrier reef...it would have been a very unpopular move...now it is moored out there awaiting repairs. It's important to have a book to read at hand when being very lazy in the tropics It is even nicer when the library is a bit like this one... I went to visit my sister... she enjoyed showing me the windows at the library very nice

Do you sometimes wake up and wonder where you are? I had one of those experiences this week. I'll have to tell you all about it one day ...this week.

the week started brilliantly with the church service on Sunday.. now in the season of Pentecost I had a quick trip up the range to see the family there, enjoyed the local sights, especiially the fall foliage of course I couldn't resist taking a photo of Queen Elizabeth II's Jubilee celebrations it was very foggy and a bitterly cold day as I left after tennis I went up to see the other little people at the Sunshine Coast someone and I had the honor of making a special cake ...and the little someone enjoyed licking the bowl! local Wallum flora we had a lovely play in the park with Mummy and I couldn't resist putting in these photos from down south... what an amazing mushroom/toadstool/piece of fungi and a special snowman from one of the classes comes to visit them at home... reminds us how cold it has been down south...with snow and rain and floods again. whew. I am glad I live where I live!
