I loved the warm pink glow on this gum tree this afternoon when I went out to watch the sunset. It has been fine weather now for almost a month after the rain that we had when I arrived home mid June. So blue skies have been the winter norm around here...cool to cold nights, some of the last couple have been down to 1 and 2 degrees celsius here...Brisbane was the second coldest capital city last night after Canberra, our national capital down south, and we were the second warmest capital city in the nation today after Darwin in the northern Territory...I think we got to 22 degrees yesterday, perhaps the same today! There were a few clouds in the sky late this afternoon. Hope for a little rain yet. But it made for a small bright sunset in the sky tonight. This is really a postscript to the My World post below...I can't work out why I can't take a photo of this doorway without it leaning to the left. I really need to go back and check out that this building is not about to fall over! I always enjoy hearing this singer..she has a lovely voice. Cheapest jazz concert around...for a 3 dollar entry fee to the quilt show! and a window for you...it was really calling me to take its photo while I listened to the jazz!

a part of Brisbane City from the vantage point of Mt Cootha ... more views of the city...and the river... a Botanical Artists exhibition at the Botanical Gardens.... and a quilt show at Brookfield Showgrounds... I am pretty sure that building, although it is a little old, is probably not on a lean as it appears to be in the photo above...I think it might have been the poor photography, sorry! the quilts were very interesting.. and there was some "Stitched Up" jazz outside to enjoy with a picnic.... another nice hibiscus in the front yard... a nasturtium on the river bank yellow daisies...mm...now where did I see these...can't remember... and I really loved these camellias...a patient had brought them in for the physio this week when I was there! I think the receptionist might have thought I was a bit strange asking to take a photo!!! I went down to the river at the end of the street the other day, plenty of weeds on the banks, plenty of private jetties on the other side of the river, boats out enjoying themselves, and some seats have been put in since the last time I have been down there. Some interesting houses, and yards, and plants (an agave in flower) the sun set on the mountains with a wonderful color at the end of the day, an electricity control box at the corner near the church...the City Council has encouraged people to paint them! a brief look at the garden and check on the pool..(yes it is still green) at home... before I am off to a blood test, then a coffee at the Wordsmith's cafe at the University of Queensland. I managed to beat off the resident ibis, and a scrub turkey as well. That is a bit of a problem with outdoor cafes , isn't it? some wonderful sculpture.... and I quite enjoyed the Chai too.... a closer look at the muffin...I was very good and brought half of it home to be eaten the next...
