First of all, some orchids from my front yard ... then some images taken from Queen's Park in Toowoomba. We have been very lucky to have seen them all, especially since it is about 3 weeks until their Carnival of Flowers parade. because of the warmer weather, everything seemed to be flowering earlier. The rununculas were looking great.... the pansies striking but my absolute favorites this year were the white and pink beds.... how pretty they were.. I haven't actually seen them do a bed like this before that I can remember.... But of course the irises were amazing as usual...I love irises, especially the blue and purple ones! This was quite a photograph when I stepped out of the house in Toowoomba the other day. as well as this...while I was minding the baby during a wedding rehearsal... and these skies from here in Brisbane took my eye yesterday...it helps to have the camera with you when you see a great shot doesn't it? I was over at my neighbor's place and saw the light shining on the palm...the skies have been quite blue and sunny as you can see, with only a hint of cloud. We would love some rain...it has been about 6 weeks or more without rain here. They are predicting some for Monday..let's hope it happens. Some doorways from around Toowoomba. The ones above and below, the back and front doors to Gabbinbar Homestead, as talked about in a previous post. a conservatory doorway... and a doorway from a home in Toowoomba.

Gabbinbar is an historic stately old homestead in Toowoomba on the rich agricultural Darling Downs. Toowoomba being on a plateau on the Great Dividing Range, is a cool summer escape from the heat elsewhere. Gabbinbar was built back in the 1870s according to my google research by a builder Richard Godsall, for a Presbyterian minister. It has been used by Governers of Queensland, and others, but nowadays, it is privately owned and occasionally used for functions. My niece was a lucky young woman as her parents had known the owner, and as he attended the wedding, it was allowed to be held at night...other wedding and other functions are only allowed during the day, due to restriction by the City Council, and objections and complaints from local residents! Please forgive duplicate photos.... the wedding party is photographed on the steps at the entrance.... grand entrance way, used to be a carriage way for horses.... lovely verandah makes the place cool in the summer...the homestead is slo...

some images form around the church in Toowoomba...the Spring flowers have decided to arrive a little early, what a treat for us all and the bride...I do hope there are some left in a month's time for the Carnival of Flowers they have here! a lovely magnolia tree in the yard beside the church.... lovely arrangment in the church.... flowers being prepared for the tables at the wedding breakfast.... some images from the garden.... and inside.....an african violet.... and some lovely nasturtiums that were cheery at our front door.... the dracaena in my garden is flowering....I don't think I have ever seen it flower before...maybe it has been the long drought that prompted it.... and a final shot from the conservatory flowers at the wedding breakfast...
