I arrived in Melbourne to be greeted by this lovely jar of protea in my room and left with a present, lucky me..and lots of memories of fun with the grandkids there was a lovely daphne at my sister's place...much prettier than the one at my place.. there were many beautiful native flowers at my sister's place as well as these orchids and this bromeliad and arrived home to this beautiful unusually variegated poinsettia at a friend's place.

The week's flowers

Image
Some pretty flowers during the week, mainly up on the range in Toowoomba....petunias... jacarandas.... hibiscus.... cactus type flowers.... silky oak.... someone told me this is a yukka....but I googled yukka and I don't think it is now? Found another one out at tennis and they tell me it is a pony tail palm, a native of Mexico... The "Ponytail Palm" is really not a palm at all. It is a member of the Lilaceae (lily family), and is known as "elephant's foot" because of its bulbous base. It is native to the desert of Mexico and is somewhat of a curious interior landscaping plant. Likes full sun to part shade. lovely pretty white pink flowers above, and a protea.... and back down in the city, my dancing lady orchid.... azaleas..... irises.... above a yesterday today and tomorrow.... a double hibiscus.... Then the pink flwoering tree down the road was out...so I took a photo of it...unfortuantely this isnt it...this is mine in a previous year...my flowers this year are coming out slowly one by one... It is such a pretty thing, and I don't even know the name and the poincianas are coming out too...just as the jacarandas are fading...it seems early for the poincianas... I went u...
