another fine day

Image
After some choppy cyclonic conditions for what seems like a long time...  and a trip to a different (Moffatt) beach  where I went for a coffee at a cafe (and discovered a brewery in the back...)  after dropping someone for a meeting at the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital and admiring the local Banksia flower (more stormy scenes)  And after getting a very close up shot of the inner workings of the ancient cycad plant at Moffatt Beach  finally the sun came out and the flowers started to bloom in the ...autumn..(a Golden Penda above  dropped Mummy at another  different meeting at a different (Mudjimba) Beach (what a tough life we all have)  looking at Old Woman Island off Maroochydore from Mudjimba beach  we dallied to look at some more of the local plants in the dunes...  and were nearly home late for Daddy to take someone to soccer!!  my passionfruit vines have been floweri...

Power Off Power On again

Image
we finally were able to drive to the beach the day before I left for home.. the sea looked very angry right on the sand dunes , these pretty little pink flowers were poking their way through...  very very pretty, even Master Four thought they were great. when I got back and was editing the photos I took, I remembered I had a neighbor who grew up in Gympie and called these flowers, Aunty Dot's weed! Aunty Dot was her sister! look how strong the ocean was! the family found a more sheltered place to have a little swim.. then we went to Moffatt Beach and ate our fish and chips as the sun went down...very nice.. A nice little time to spend at the beach after a wild few days of the cyclonic influence going past.. and before I finally had some way of returning home, luckily by bus and trains,  as they had started moving again by then! I found less mess at home than I had expected, no flooding downstairs but no power on, which was a little frustrating....

surviving the heatwave...in the Water

Image
How to survive the record breaking heatwave Stay cool ... Come n in the ocean's fine. Jesus is the Living Water... what was it He said Come Unto me all who thirst and I will give you Life. I could be wrong with the exact words of that quote  because I have broken my glasses  and am unable to look it up in the bible right away. Photos t aken at Moffatt Beach at New Year 201 3.

the heatwave continues...

Image
the ocean would be the best place to be in Australia at the moment... well maybe not on a day above 35 degrees, as they will be tomorrow. perhaps the air conditioning might be best, especially for the elderly and the young ones! Thank God for air conditioning when there's a heatwave! May God go with you today and this week. Esecially with all those impacted by the heat and fires in Australia. And with a little family traveling back from a visit to family in the bush.

last look at Moffatt

Image
this was our last day at the beach we walked down to moffatt beach to buy some bread for breakfast there were plenty of people in the water already been though it was a little misty and rainy but we made it back up the hill before the rain came what a lovely holiday it was to catch up with family...from home and overseas...a great idea. We'll have to do it again.

in the swim

Image
lovely to be at the beach and in the pool again... having fun looking out at the surrounding views watching Serena play tennis in Brisbane (I think that's where she is) then we walked down the hill enjoying the ocean views looking out over Moffatt Beach to have a swim then of course there is the walk back again.. the ginger plant looked very pretty as I puffed my way back up the hill and the bottle-brush plant too of course enjoying the ocean views again, this time from under the pandanus palm and the gardens always good to catch up with family, especially when you've not seen them for a while...Happy Holidays everyone!
