New Era

Image
A new Era  A new Header today! Looking towards the mountains. Last year these mountains were covered by smoke  from bush fires for months! Here we are today A new year ..a new season in our lives  I even found that my camera that stopped working last year has started working again! Sometimes small miracles happen  Meanwhile the bear waits for the kids to visit..One day maybe!  The news is understandably full of covid 19  But the sun is still rising and setting  and so is the moon too!   the flowers bloom and fade and the seasons still change ! I'm keeping my eye on this tree on my morning walk!  But fortunately there are bright spots in our days   spectacular cloud formations to take our minds off ourselves!   and creativity flourishes in the midst of loneliness, disease, isolation and despair even! May God bless you wherever you are! May he keep his face shining upon you. ...

Wordless Wednesday, almost

I couldn't decide between the delicate pink double hibiscus, or the trips I had to the beach, or the walk I had home from the top of the hill after dropping my car at the garage this morning, so you have some of each...plus extras! Hope you are having a great week. It is supposed to be late winter here but after a cool-ish week last week, it looks like it is wanting to be spring here...and soon summer I think!

Catching Up in May

Image
minding a little fellow keeps Granny busy and on odd occasions I remember to take my camera on my walks.. we love walking across the little bridge and watching the ducks.... it is a lovely time of year, cooling down from the warm summer days, not yet too cold the early morning light always attracts me... there is always something surprising popping up in the garden.. Hope you are enjoying the month of May too. Hopefully I'll be back sooner rather than later.

Flowers, walks and earthquakes in the night...

view of a lassiandra on a fairly early morning walk... these days my back doesn't allow me to leap out of bed early and go walking, very sad! But I am always keen to get outside for a walk as soon as it has warmed up sufficiently...my back that is. The weather is always warm here usually, apart from about a week or so in the winter...!! It is  especially great to be walking when one has some highly spirited grandchildren in tow. Whether they are tiny ones, or older ones home sick from school, the outing seems to be good for all of us. by late afternoon  I am always pleased to get out and walk again when the sun has died down a bit, and the day is getting a little cooler... there are always some interesting flowers to see along the way...I thought these striking yellow flowers above were a kind of orchid, but I am wondering if they may be a variety of a ginger plant. Ginger plants are very common in this area. I love this area, so full of things to lo...

Early Christmas scenes...

a lizard (water dragon) sunning himself on a rock...  just love these poinsianas flowering  now... I wonder if they will still be in flower in time for Christmas?  this one is on my afternoon walk, (when I get there) and you can also see the sea in the distance just underneath it...wonderful! and an hibiscus, again on my afternoon walk. Hope you have a great week. May God bless you at the start of his special season, Advent. Would like to sahre with you a poem I read on a daily devotional site this morning from SOUNDBITES MINISTRY: NOT CELEBRATE? Not Celebrate? Your burden is too great to bear? Your loneliness is intensified during this Christmas season? Your tears seem to have no end? Not celebrate? You should lead the celebration! You should run through the streets to ring the bells and sing the loudest! You should fling the tinsel on the tree, and open your house to your neighbors, and call them in to dance! F...

Around and about in wintertime

Did I mention it was raining when I arrived home from the US? emptied about 12 inches out of the rain gauge out the back, from the 90 days I was away. But the weather has fined up now and the days are sunny and cold I even managed a photo of the eclipse last week it is quite cold overnight here down to zero degrees outside this morning early....and not much more inside, unless I turn on a heater. At least the sun will be out and it will warm up to 20 degrees. A bit cool for this part of the world, but much nicer than zero!
