I went up to visit the little people the other day...this lovely tree grows up there I wish I knew the name...very pretty and this wonderful tree was outside the Caloundra library where I had to return the children's library books on the way home I think my sister said it was a Callistemon (I don't even know how to spell it properly) but my memory could be wrong I thought the tree looked very much like a paperbark, but the display of flowers was amazing. And on further perusal of my sister's email reply she includes this reference which helps to explain the difference between Melaleucas and Callistemon, and I am happy to report that I am almost right...in fact the Queensland Herbarium branch would agree with me! ;-) what a great place to have to go to return library books... I even got to glimpse the ocean and the passing cargo traffic a surfer emerged out of the ocean just as the cargo container ship passed by and closer to home the autumn leaves are doing their th...

Did I mention it was raining when I arrived home from the US? emptied about 12 inches out of the rain gauge out the back, from the 90 days I was away. But the weather has fined up now and the days are sunny and cold I even managed a photo of the eclipse last week it is quite cold overnight here down to zero degrees outside this morning early....and not much more inside, unless I turn on a heater. At least the sun will be out and it will warm up to 20 degrees. A bit cool for this part of the world, but much nicer than zero!
