There's a Friday 56 that goes around sometimes,  I think I found it on Irene's Desk blog post from last week.... choose a book you are reading, TURN TO PAGE 56 AND SHARE A SENTENCE OR TWO... (no spoilers) My book is State of Wonder by Ann Patchett published in 2011 page 56: "Miss," he said, as if they had never met before. "Miss?" Marina opened her eyes. The man in the suit was shaking her shoulder, and the flight attendant was peering into Marina's face, entirely too close.  When Marina opened her eyes she was looking directly into the woman's mouth, her lipstick a thick brownish pink. Obscene. Now this small passage may not convey at all what the book is truly about, but it happens to show the manner in which it is written.
