A snowy spring day

Image
Yesterday morning early we looked out of the window to discover it was snowing. In Spring? Of course it was. There were the daffodils about to come out, looking like they had gone into suspended animation. some crocuses, (I think) and so we put on our warm clothes when we had to go out past the snowy trees that reminded me of Christmas all over again. This is where we worshiped at Christmas over a year ago. Grandma getting over her pneumonia in just four days (after going to the ER for diagnosis and treatment). A Christmas miracle I called it. Unfortunately all the others caught the bug too. Doesn't this look just like a Christmas tree? the Light of the World showing the way In we go the park was looking pretty good too...though a little chilly but very pretty only a couple of inches of snow anyone for tennis, perhaps? Or basketball? Yes, definitely a little chilly if one were wanting to sit around out there anyone for chess? Dyckman farmhouse was looking pretty too... and I was ...

Today's flowers

It has been lovely to be here in Inwood, New York just as the spring flowers are opening just love the crocuses, striped, or plain and the window boxes of color in the street.... I bought a tulip for my daughter to put in the window and promptly dropped it while watering it, poor thing...so I hope it will be ok! the local markets were displaying a colorful array of flowers today....marigolds... and petunias.....and the daffodils have been a sight to behold! I think these three above look like three little maids from school...all standing up straight in the back row behaving themselves! and when I look at this one, I think they are whispering to themselves, or is it to us? These are just hanging around enjoying the game !! I took most of these photos around at the Dyckman farmhouse, an original old farmhouse that has been preserved here in Inwood. It has a lovely garden! And one of my favorites.... if you would like to see more flowers from around the world, please click on the TODAY...

Today's Flowers brought to you from New York

Today we went for a walk down to Riverside Drive after church, and had a little picnic in the park. The flowers are just starting to bloom. This wonderful pink blossomed tree. Is this what they call the cherry blossoms I wonder? and I think these are called crocuses! and it looked a bit like someone might have planted this azalea. It seems a bit early to me, but maybe not here? And of course there was this little stand of daffodils flowering also...again, the only ones I have seen fully out yet here in NY...but then I haven't been around very far yet... these little ones might have been crocuses in Inwood park a day or so ago.... And this latest bunch from Riverside drive yesterday was just spectacular!
