My World , in Nerw York

Image
We spend quite a bit of time in the park ...I love looking at the fungus starting to break down all the old vegetation! They were all out playing baseball the other day. There are at least 4 baseball diamonds in the Inwood Park. and of course all the spring blossoms are starting ..... I wandered down to the Columbia Presbyterian Medical school ....always an amazing place! the chapel and garden are always delightful, and spring is blossoming there too! Another walk in the park....I love the massive rocks that New York is built on. I find it so hard to photograph them to show their size. the squirrels are out ...this one was a black one...the ones I see are usually brown... We wandered through 103rd street to the station on Sunday coming back from church... I guess this is technically probably part of Harlem.... On our wander along Riverside Drive I was struck again by how bare and grey brown everything is in winter, but there are bright moments of color that stand out every now and the...

Today's Flowers brought to you from New York

Image
Today we went for a walk down to Riverside Drive after church, and had a little picnic in the park. The flowers are just starting to bloom. This wonderful pink blossomed tree. Is this what they call the cherry blossoms I wonder? and I think these are called crocuses! and it looked a bit like someone might have planted this azalea. It seems a bit early to me, but maybe not here? And of course there was this little stand of daffodils flowering also...again, the only ones I have seen fully out yet here in NY...but then I haven't been around very far yet... these little ones might have been crocuses in Inwood park a day or so ago.... And this latest bunch from Riverside drive yesterday was just spectacular! Sunday Psalm

Image
10Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. 11Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your holy spirit from me. 12Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit. 15. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise

Skywatch Friday

Image
Last glimpse of the sky from my back verandah for a little while... I caught the train to Roma Street station, above...to catch the train to the airport... below. It is so nice to be on the train, and not sitting in the early morning traffic that I could see out the window! to fly all the way...to the USA...to visit my little family here in NY...have landed safely tonight...my body is gently rocking from the long haul 24 hr door to door flights...and I am needing some sleep. Howard beach station as I caught the train in from the airport was wet...and winter! But now to catch up on some bright Australian skies from last weekend up at the beach.! ... last weekend at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. am posting some of my favorite purple photos today.... Remembering everyone who suffers from epilepsy...and those who care for them and love them, and also those who are researching new cures and treatments...

MY WORLD ..Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast

Image
I had occasion to travel north of the city of Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast..this is the mouth of the Maroochy River. Looks like there are plenty of fishing spots. The surf club, and some of the many apartments. Along the Maroochy River, you can still see some of the original mangroves... plenty of picnic spots! there are all sorts of choices to make in the housing.... it is in the sub-tropics.... This wonderful stand of palms marks the entrance to the Lutheran College. There is a university on the other side of the hill too! lovely pandanus line the foreshores..... there were some surfers on their surf boards out there.... even though it looked a bit choppy to me.... And the wind surfers looked like they were having fun in the wind! For more MY WORLD stories this week, please click on the my world icon over in the sidebar!
