 THE  BIG WET 2020 Whew, it has been a little moist here lately! Floods all over here in S E Queensland.  And it has progressed down to Northern NSW today as well with emergency evacuations everywhere Terrible.  Record breaking days. No words. photos to come God Bless

Much rain lately has been causing chaos in Brisbane and surrounds ...again! Flooding in various coastal rivers expected.. Prayers that the rain influence will retreat out to sea soon !! Prayers for those people who have just finished cleaning up, or not even finished yet, after the previous rain influence...a few weeks ago. Those in the Lockyer valley, and Laidley, Gympie, and Bundaberg are expecting more flooding from the last days Heavy rain. Unwanted, and what we mere mortals thinks as unneeded rain, especially when there are people around who are badly needing rain in our own country here, the monsoon having seemed to have missed northern Australia, although of course there is still some time for it to make its presence felt. As in another cyclone is approaching Australia from the west! Here is hoping it doesn't float across the country towards this part of the world!!

As you may know it has been quite a week here in Queensland. This time last week we were supposed to be celebrating Australia Day. Instead ex cyclone Oswald decided to fly by, hovering slowly over various areas randomly, before suddenly making a break for it and disappearing down south to cause a little more havoc! Very wet would be slightly an understatement for the last week, Here is how Queenslanders coped with the rain It doesn't look too bad does it? What fun to get out between showers and storms to have a bit of fun and see what has been happening. But mostly stay inside and keep dry though. A lady in Brisbane is dangerously ill in hospital, and has lost a three year old son, after standing watching the floods on the edge of a creek, and a tree fell on them! Don't forget to check on the neighbor, and keep an eye on the television to see what's happening around the place and to see how the others are coping The above photo was taken...

stuck at the beach with the grandkids, because of an excess abundance of rain, floods, and lack of transport..no trains buses until at least Wednesday. According to the neighbor at home they had no power early this morning,  so I will certainly enjoy cleaning out the fridge when I finally get back..not!  ...assuming the trains start again soon! I hope Keith got out of town OK. He was playing at his home town of Caboolture the other night, I read in the paper when I was having a coffee waiting for the bus at Landsborough on the way up on Friday!! I think he was supposed to be meeting Nicole (Kidman) somewhere, probably at her parents in Sydney! no trains... no buses... poor Roger didn't make the final.. I'll just have to enjoy the scenery up here...the Buckinghamia are looking pretty good. Some of them were a little knocked around after the high winds...but generally not too bad. I wonder if anything will be left of mine when I get home! Or ...

We lit candles for all thsoe who died in the recent floods this week this morning. the sun came out after the river peaked. a rare quiet moment in the front yard early one morning. I even saw a most wonderful rainbow one day, when was out in the car. I smiled when I saw it, as it was very easy to imagine I was on an ark! The park after the flood this morning. The water has receded back into the river and the mud from the Lockyer valley continues to flow down the river and settle in Moreton Bay. Cara, another Brisbane blogger usually posts remarkable images of the River City on her blog Brisbane City Daily Photo and more recently on Thursday, A River Runs Through It. A look at the devastation in her street. She also has some other Brisbane blogs recorded on her sidebar where you will find other first hand accounts of the floods also. One of them, Your Brisbane Past and Present is a fairly true account of what is happening throughout the city at the moment for many many people....

Thursday morning 8.30am Brisbane ...yesterday I was able to get a photo of the river from the overpass over the highway...obviously there is a lot of water there and the bridge was closed think I might have shown you some photos of the local soccer field and park and dog walking park some slight relief in the flora on the way home today I braved the slippery slope down off the overpass at 5.30am to get closer to the river but unlike everyone else, I didn't go past the police barricade! so my photos from the side are not as dramatic as they could be..I should have got one of the other onlookers to send some to me on the computer! anyway, we are pleased that the river peaked at 4am at a slightly lower level than expected.. but there is an horrific clean up to contmeplate ...when the floodwaters recede finally. that will take some time. Thanking God for a break in the weather. Tiny tiny sighs of relief ...just very slight. Helicopters in the air...prayers for all those affected ..for ...

mowing the lawn in high humidity is a silly thing to do, but nice when it is finished. a trip across town to catch up with some family. no I didn't go by city cat, but stopped to take this photo anyway. They had a time where they were out of service because of the amount of water and rubbish floating down the river a few weeks ago before Christmas. a bit of this a bit of that (watching the tennis at home in the relative cool, is easier than going out in the heat to see it)! and of course there's always the cricket in the summer. and then the storms build up again in the afternoon. the news is constantly about the floods. There are some towns where the residents are going back to see what lies in store for them, and there are more towns still preparing for flood-waters to come rolling on through.
