This nasty Largest ever cyclone Yasi that Australia has ever experienced is now crossing the coast of Far North Queensland. It is slowing slightly, and crossing half way between the densely populated areas of Townsville and Cairns. Wind gusts of up to 300 klms per hr may be experienced, and storm surges will interact with a high tide tonight and in the morning. It is 5 times broader than the previous destructive category 3 storm Cyclone Larry that caused much devastation to the town of Innisfail (not Ingham as I said earlier in this post) not so many years ago. May God go with all the authorities who can do little to help in the middle of this devastation....until it has passed over by sometime tomorrow morning, we hope, on the coast. It will remain a cyclone of progressively lessening categories as it moves inland, ending at a category one as it passes over the inland town of Mt Isa on Friday.
